Nafolo: a complete financial app, on mobile

Account, cards, transfers and savings in a single app, plus an offer for businesses: what we built with Nafolo, and how.

Xearth team1 min read

Nafolo is a financial app for individuals and businesses: an account with an IBAN, a virtual card and a physical card, transfers to mobile money, to a bank or abroad, and savings. Its principle is simple: show the fees and the rate before confirming, never after.

The context

Bringing account, cards and transfers into one app means connecting many partners: card issuers, mobile-money networks, banks, international transfer providers. Each partner has its own formats, delays and compliance rules. The challenge was to hide that complexity behind a simple experience, without ever losing track of a cent.

What we built

  • The mobile app for individuals, on iOS and Android: account opening with identity verification, cards, transfers, savings.
  • Nafolo Business, for companies: international payments, multi-currency accounts and expense tracking tools, on the web and then on mobile.
  • The operations back-office: customer, transaction and incident tracking, with role-based access.
  • The API platform, rebuilt as microservices to isolate each partner and each business function.

How we worked

In short iterations, with one rule: every money flow is modeled as a sequence of verifiable operations, and an international transfer is only debited once the quote is accepted and the order confirmed. Sensitive changes go through back-office validation before reaching customers. The API rebuild happened without service interruption, by proving parity with the previous version function by function.

Technologies

Native and cross-platform mobile apps, web back-office, Node.js microservices API, partner integrations (cards, mobile money, transfers).

What we take away

In fintech, transparency is a feature: showing fees upfront, tracing every operation and refusing shortcuts makes the product simpler to evolve, not heavier. It is the same standard we apply to custom development.
